[October 11, 1878] -

On Monday evening a fatal affray occurred on the Somerset road about ten miles from town, between two young men, named Henry Cattron and Tom Lewis. We could not hear how the difficulty originated, but it resulted in Cattron's shooting Lewis with a double-barrelled shot gun, giving him the contents of both barrels, which were loaded with buckshot. Lewis' body was terribly mangled. He died from his woulds Tuesday morning. Cattron has not yet been arrested. [1]

[October 18, 1878] -

MURDER AT LARGE.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Henry Cattron, who killed Thomas Lewis, in this county, last week. Up to this writing he has not been captured. We understand he is in Pulaski county. [2]

[November 1, 1878] -

BOTH REASONS ARE APPLICABLE.

We understand that Henry Cattron, the murderer of Thomas Lewis, is at his father's, Wm. Cattron's, in Pulaski county. Warrants for his arrest have been sent to officers of Pulaski county. Are the officers of that county afraid of Cattron, or do they refuse to arrest him simply because they choose to do so. [3]

[November 15, 1878] -

Henry Cattron, charged with the murder of Thos. Lewis, surrendered himself to 'Squire J. N. Brown, Tuesday night, and an examination of the charge will be made to-day (Friday). [4]

[November 22, 1878] -

Henry Cattron, charged with the murder of Thomas Lewis, in October last, had his examining trial this week, and was acquitted. [5]
